Job Description

The outpatient Recovery Counselor helps coordinate interventions relative to the needs of those who have substance use disorders. If licensed, this position may also serve as an outpatient psychotherapist and conducts various types of therapeutic interventions with clients including diagnostic assessments, establishing a treatment plan, implementation of treatment and discharge of clients from care. This position is the primary contact with the consumer through all phases of the rehabilitation program and has the final responsibility for decisions in moving the consumer through the steps in treatment to determine a patient’s readiness to be discharged from treatment. This individual is also responsible for maintaining proper documentation of the services provided, to maintain licensure, to maintain professional and ethical development, and to maintain targeted productivity requirements.

MMC is an NHSC Substance Use Disorder Workforce Loan Repayment Program approved site.

 

Requirements:

 

Must be certified or licensed by the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services in one the following:

 

  • Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC)

and

  • Clinical Supervisor-in-Training (CS-IT), Intermediate or Independent Clinical Supervisor (!CS)

 

OR

  • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with  experience  & education  in substance use

and

  • Clinical Supervisor-in-Training (CS-IT), Intermediate or Independent Clinical Supervisor (!CS)

 

OR

  • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with experience and education in substance use.

and

  • Proof of training in substance use assessment and evaluation, counselor development, management and administration, and professional responsibility.

 

  1. If Master’s prepared, must have graduated from an accredited Degree shall be in psychology, social work, or related field
  2. Must demonstrate proficiency in written and oral communication skills and clinical competence to function within a team approach of patients and their families as well as healthcare staff for the delivery of clinical behavioral health
  3. In assigned activities, follows state and national ethical guidelines and professional/social standards.
  4. Training and experience in inpatient and outpatient assessment, individual and group therapies helpful.
  5. Ability to provide outpatient and inpatient treatment to individuals or groups in both in-person and virtual

 

Shift Time: 8- hour shifts
